The kitchen sink is a plumbing fixture that is used every day and because of it’s importance it is very disruptive to the daily lives of homeowners when water backs up in it. The problem of water backing up in the sink, unfortunately, is caused by the frequent usage of the sink. Food, grease, and sometimes hair, get washed down the drain every day and it is inevitable that some of these items get stuck. The more of these items that get stuck in the sink, the narrower the pipes become.
Sink traps are extremely easy to clog. It’s design allows food, grease, and other items to build up easily. When this build up happens and the pathway for water narrows in the pipes, the only place for this water to go is back up the drain into the sink.
